NEOPENTHYL GLYCOL (NPG)
Neopenthylglycol is a white cristalline solid. It easily dissolves in room temperature in water, alcohols, glycol esters, ketones and esters. Despite a high reactivity it is termically stabile. It is an irritant.
Application
Neopenthylglycol is used in producing polyester and alkyd resins for paints and varnishes, plastifiers, foam polyurethanes, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, aromatic substances, photographic materials and as a disperger of titan dioxide. Neopenthylglycol is used in producing gel coatings.
Storage and transport
Neopenthylglycol is packed in 25-kg polyethylene bags. Other packaging types and sizes can also be used which will ensure the quality of the product to be preserved and the handling safety thereof.
The product should be stored in covered and dry places, in tightly sealed bags.
Neopenthylglycol is not considered a hazardous material according to RID/ADR.
